La French Manucure

The natural nail with just a hint of colour is a welcome alternative to those vivid reads and pinks. Both timely and timeless, it ties in beautifully with today's natural, healthy look in make-up and goes with every colour in your wardrobe. The natural nail also projects the business like image many working women prefer. But, perhaps most important of all, minor nicks and chips are less noticeable and so your polish lasts longer.

We suggest five alternatives :

The first (Natural Manicure) is simplicity itself. The others require a bit of practice but the results are well worth the effort. These five types of manicure begin with the same classical preparation.

Thoroughly clean nails by pressing cotton wool soaked with nail polish remover firmly over each nail for a few seconds. Then, with a single stroke from base to tip, remove polish.

Shape the nail with the fine side of the supple Mavala Emery Board. Always file from side to centre. Do not file deeply into edges.

Use Cuticle Remover and a Manicure Stick wrapped in cotton wool to gently roll back cuticles.

Rinse hands thoroughly, brush nails with soft brush. Dry nails completely with an absorbant towel, massaging from tip to roots.

If your nails flake and split, apply Mavala Scientifique penetrating nail hardener to the tips of the nails.

Natural Manicure

Use dampened Nail White Crayon under nail tips.

Polish to a luxurious shine with the pink Nail Buffer using firm long strokes, and off you go.

French manicure Silver

Apply a base coat (for instance MAVALA 002) on entire nail plate and wait for a few seconds.

Position a Sticker Guide on each nail to set the limits of the free edge you wish to highlight.

Proceed with a thin coat of MAVALA Nail Color "pearlized white" on free edge ONLY, using short vertical strokes or a continuous horizontal stroke.

Remove the Manicure Guides and let the white nail polish dry.

Then, apply one coat of a "pinkish beige" pastel nail polish to the ENTIRE nail surface (including the tip covered with white nail polish). Proceed with a second coat if you prefer a stronger pastel look.

A final coat of "Minute Quick-Finish" will dry your nail enamel in seconds and provide a brilliant shine to your nails.

French manicure White

Proceed as above (see French Manicure Silver), but instead of the "pearlized white", use a "white" nail polish, and a "beige" nail polish instead of the "pinkish beige" pastel.

French manicure Pink

Proceed as above (see French Manicure Silver), but instead of the "pearlized white", use a "white" nail polish, and a "pinkish" nail polish instead of the "pinkish beige" pastel.

French manicure Ice Cube

Proceed as above (see French Manicure Silver), but instead of the "pearlized white", use a "frosty white" nail polish, and a "transparent white" nail polish instead of the "pinkish beige" pastel.
